Hello i have a problem my laptop can't restart only shutdown i reinstall windows but the same problem and install linux and problem still exist and rebooting from setup boot and just shutdown m. Restart the system and press f2 to enter bios - reset bios defaults and check if the system shutdown and restart work fine. uninstall the video drivers from device manager - check if the system shutdown and restart options work fine. if yes, then download the intel drivers from dell support site and install the same. keep us updated.. Then restart the computer and after it restarts try to shutdown again. hopefully this will work for you. :) ***if this doesn't work make sure you change the value in regedit back to what it was originally***.
Turns out the southbridge on the laptop had a shoddy solder job that was causing the laptop to not only fail to reboot, but to cause the laptop to blue screen if moved only after warming up. when asus replaced the motherboard, that problem all but disappeared.. When you click on the windows 10 shutdown or restart button, and you find that your windows 10 will not shut down or restart, then this post will help you troubleshoot and fix the problem..
